Meaning the mountain of God in Maasai language, Oldoinyo Lengai Mountain is the only active natrocarbonotite Volcano. The Lava is black in color during the day and glows a dull red at night. The temperature of the lava is around 1000 degree Fahrenheit. Oldoinyo Lengai is located in Tanzania inside the African Rift Valley, and its very remote. The mountain stands nearly 2878 mts above the sea level. In 1904, Prof, Fritz Saeger climbed Oldoinyo Lengai mountain (active Volcano) and made the first scientific observation of its activity including the first know description of natrocarbonatite lava.
